The Telrad a star-hopers best friend. When looking through the Telrad you see the sky thru a window, just as it is, without any magnification. There are no upside-down or mirrored views. You see three red circles that seem to lie floating in front of the stars or objects that you are looking at. The outer circle is 4 degrees, inner circle is 2 degrees and the center is ½ degree. If the object you want to observe is visible with the naked eye, just point the Telrad directly at the object. If the object is not visible, using a star charts that offer Telrad guide lines, just align the Telrad according to the chart (typically putting one of the red circles a bright star near the object you want to view) then look thru the eyepiece and the object should be in the field of view.
